Antarctic-Ice Policies:
Discounted Dishes- According to Marnie Hanel, who did research on Clif Bar's office and employees, "Employees enjoy discounts through partner companies". That's why when working for Antarctic-Ice, employees will receive discount cards with corporations we are working with in order to keep employees healthy, happy, and on task.
Eating at work=Healthy Employees- According to Lisa Magloff, who works for Demand Media and studies social media and online company brands, "Healthier employees can translate into lower health insurance costs, and higher productivity." That's why we provide healthy snacks and a designated eating room in order for our employees to fill up on healthy snacks, keeping them focused and healthy.
Got a sweet tooth? Got a job!- According to James Dyson, founder of Dyson vacuum cleaners, "We are looking for the sort of people who ask questions, and who might even interrupt you if you say something as they get excited about how to add to that idea." That's why when we hire we look for the ones who are curious, who seem interested in the job and what they have to offer. We focus on your skills, not based off of your past.
Forced Freedom- According to Jason Evanish, a recent employer, he discuses the difficulty to accept vacation time on the job, "It was really hard to walk away, you're always kind of stressed". To help decrease the stress levels among employees, we have a lottery every month and the winner must take their one week off for vacation. The tanner the skin the less stress, and the healthier the employees.
No Work Weekends- According to Jennifer J. Deal, PhD, a research scientist, "Many professionals say they are worn out, feeling they are kept on an electronic leash." That's why we created the idea of "No Work Weekends". As long as you complete at least 50 hours of work in the office for the week, you have no obligation to be contacting work over the weekend unless it is a crisis. This gives the employees time to disconnect, and connect with the family. Everyone needs a breather now and then and this time can help relieve stress!
Transportation Time- According to Alexandra Jamieson, a woman who tried to live under minimum wage, found it difficult getting to and from work, while trying to save her money. Alexandra represents the majority of our population and that's why we came up with Transportation Time. There will be a few given bus stop areas where you can wait to be picked up, and dropped off at, from work. All free! Save your money.
Take A Tub- According to John Van Maanen, an ex-employee from Disneyland, "Work teams develop inventive ways to increase the number of "time-outs" they take during the work day". To limit the amount of breaks, and to push the employees to get more work done, we created "Take A Tub". If you are one of the employees to complete the most work within the week, you take home a new ice cream flavor!
Find A Friend- According to Bill Denton, an employee at Amerco, he believed a work place should feel like home and to make work an emotionally comfortable environment. That is why in our offices we have two social workers. You need to take a break, you need someone to talk to, you need advice? Take a half hour off to "Find A Friend" and make our office feel as a home to you.
